So it turns out that feeling like crap during taper is normal. So I'm no longer worrying about that. I also felt great during my last track workout this morning - easily kept up an excellent pace and even my warm up and cool down were (too) fast. My coach also assured me that I'm absolutely ready for this race and I believe everything she says.
And later in the day I got a call to say that my various medical test results were in and that I should call this number and when asked for an ID, enter my full SSN (note to self - loosy goosy security is the final straw - I'm totally abandoning this Dr.). Then I got to listen to my Dr. reel off a list of tests and "normal" for each one. And it turns out I was exposed to chicken pox as a child. Phew - I was worried about that.
Normally I get depressed when faced with evidence that I am average, or even above average at anything, but today, I'm pleased to be boringly normal.
Sorry if this post put you all to sleep.
