Am I savage enough?

I got talked into running the 10K for the Savageman Olympic Triathlon last weekend. Really, Mark and I just wanted to camp at beautiful Deep Creek State Park, but as a good soldier Team Z-er, I said OK when asked to form a relay. Unfortunately, I'd gotten a cold (see previous post) so I was not really looking forward to it. But it looks like it's true that exercise is a natural decongestant because by the end of the race, I was absolutely buggered, but my nose was completely clear!

The race itself is crazy difficult. And I just did the run! But it is very beautiful and I was pleased with how I handled it, especially considering my cold had gone into my chest. There's one hill - straight up a fire road that I walked part of, but I was pleased with how I ran down the hills (one of the best things I've learned from my coaches) and I even passed some women running up the last hill.

Camping was fun too. Tina literally took herself to bed one night when she got too tired and Mark and I enjoyed big fires, roasting marshmallows and indulging in packets of animal crackers.
