I made it!

It's a small triumph, but an important one for me. I wrote earlier in the week about some of the great workouts I'd had this week, but equally important is that I actually managed to do every workout on my schedule this week. (If you don't count skipping one swim workout and adding in a long swim.) One strength, two swims, three bikes, three runs.

The long run on Saturday was two hours in steady rain, but it was in Rock Creek Park which is always just so beautiful that it really helped with my attitude. And I was just pleased that I didn't pike at the end, but instead turned around at the car and went out for another ten minutes to get to the full 12 miles on my schedule. Then I had Guinness chocolate cake baked by my friends and fellow Team Z-er Jackie to celebrate. Very welcome.

Sunday's ride was utter perfection - sunny, a little windy (that wasn't fun), gorgeous gorgeous countryside, 70 miles and almost all in Zone 2. It's been the biggest struggle for me to stay in Z2 for my cycling, so to manage such a long ride with so much discipline was encouraging. The last two miles were flat, straight with a good backwind. So I totally hammers it around 25 mph, which felt great. And to top it off, the team had a grill at the end of the ride - sausages and hamburgers and beer - does it get any better (OK, so I hate beer, but I had my fair share of saussies). This ride also is significant as I had my very first Peep - a sugary/marshmallowy easter treat in the shape of a bunny or ducking. At least I think that's what they're supposed to be. I liked them! Then Mark and I headed home where we cooked dinner and watched the queen of the classics bike race - Paris-Roubaix with our kid's favorite sitter, Laurie and her boyf David.

Today I'm achy but happy. Recovery week after a three week build and a race at the end of the week. The season is about to start!!!!
