Yesterday was a tough day - track at 6:30 am, spin at 6:45 pm and swimming at 8:30 pm. My own little triathlon in reverse order. Thankfully, I learned from the last time I did this and remembered to eat constantly all day plus an actual dinner, so I managed to get through the swim feeling strong.
But the highlight was in the spin class. There were were - about 14 of us, all with our beautiful bikes hooked up to sturdy 'trainers' that hold our back wheels up off the ground and applies resistance. It simulates being outside on the ground and is an excellent workout. After a warm up, we were asked to do 4 30/30 single leg drills. This means, that for 30 seconds at a time, unclip one foot from your pedal and pedal with only one leg. It is one tough son-of-a-bitch exercise. The goal is to pedal smoothly and strongly, with no herky-jerky motion.
Ed, the coach, pointed and said to the others, "watch those two on the end - they look very smooth." I look to my right and counted "one ... me!" I think he's referring to me! At the pool, I did ask about it and Ed confirmed that he was referring to me and that I have good form. You couldn't have wiped the smile off my face with sandpaper, I swear. Yeah!
