Day 1

Sept 1. Day one of the training regime. Today's training (AKA Labor Day), comprised sleeping in until 7 am (I did go to bed around 7:30 pm, so I guess that counts as a sleep in), emptying and re-packing all my drawers for easy access to swim/bike gear, then making a quiche to take to a TeamZ BBQ. Too the 'little' girl with me - I heard that there'd be dogs there, so Dylan wasn't suitable, but T comported herself very well. Sweet, pretty, calm. She's such a joy after Sayla. But don't get me wrong - I'd still give anything to have Sayla back at my side.

Yesterday, I went to the kickoff for new TeamZ members and was inundated with information, e-mails and data. The quality of the communications and organization is second to none, so I'm hopeful that it was the right group to join.

Yesterday was a Red-Letter-Day for another reason - we got rid of the TV. For anyone who knows me, this is a Big Deal. I LOVE my TV. But I also know that over the next 10 months, I'm going to need all the sleep I can get and will need to be training many evenings. I'm fortunate because my SO is not nearly as in love with the idiot box as I am, so won't miss it a jot.

We have a teeny tiny house, so instead of moving the TV into an already chocka closet, I asked Mark to hide our four remotes. Hopefully he's doen a good job!

So now, I sit here facing a week of complicated scheduling and even more complicated work life. I hope I can cope. Mark said this avo that he's very excited for my training to begin. So am I, but the race still seems so far away. Not particularly real yet.

Viola (the car) is packed, two workouts tomorrow.
