Mooseman is one of several races put on by a company called Endorfun Sports. They're all challenging races and share an atmosphere that is very special. This is the third time I've raced Mooseman and if you've never raced it, here are a few things to encourage you:
1. A woman dressed as the devil blasting music and encouraging you up the steepest hill.
2. Cuddly moose who can really cut the rug if paired with the right dance partner ... thanks for the visuals Robin
3. Man dressed up as a woman with ginormous boobs always ready for a quick cuddle and grope on your way out to the second loop of the run or finally to the finish line. Turns out he's also good for a kiss when not in drag.
4. Weirdly inspirational signs lining the hill on the run and scattered through the portapotties. Who doesn't need a laugh when sitting on the dunny?
5. The best announcer in the business who is out there all day and encouraging all the finishers to show their best dance moves.
6. Homemade icecream
7. Lots of firefighters including several in lounge chairs outside their firestation at the most dangerous corner of the bike course. I think they were there to catch cyclists who failed to slow at the bottom of the hill into a corner canted the wrong way.
8. A race that makes major changes to improve each year - in the four years since I first did it, the finish line has moved to embed it in the middle of a whole village of activity. Foot rests were introduced so you don't have to bend over to take off your chip. Recycled and green products as swag.
9. The coolest medals in the country.
10. A race director who always asks for ways he can improve the race.
11. Incredibly supportive community.
12. XS t-shirts
13. Sponges on the run
And so much more. Be sure to do an Endorfun Sports race next year.
