Couch potatoes

Not much to report really. The Olympics started last night, so we're spending all day Saturday on the couch watching a variety of sports. I saw the beginning of the Three Day Eventing dressage competition, including Mark Todd on Gandalf - good to see him competing again. I LOVE eventing. And we've seen about 15 minutes of the men's road race (hopefully they'll show us the end!). And some rowing. So we're happy so far. Unfortunately, almost all of the venues show that the smog is in a pretty bad way. It's a good thing that the scullers are facing backwards - they'd never have been able to see where they're going otherwise, the smog was that thick.

Next week, we're having some interdepartmental olympic games, which ought to be a scream. We're having chair races and pencil pushing and budget balancing. I was 'voted' (i.e. I'm the last on, so got the choice job!) captain of the team, so had to spend some time going around and dragooning folks to participate. I think I'd better wear my waterproof mascara next week - I suspect I'll be laughing until I cry.
