Run: check

Just got back from a two hour run, so I know I can run long with the arm. I didn't expect any troubles, but it's still nice to have confirmation. Thank goodness running is the last event, eh?

But the big excitement today is anticipation of Ironman Switzerland which is set for tomorrow (or rather tonight, EST) and where three friends from Team Z are participating. Robin is an amazing dynamo of a woman who is a massage therapist and air steward and doesn't ever seem to stop. Es has had to overcome a bad knee injury that sidelined her for quite a long time and Jason has been my companion on many a bike ride (remember my birthday hellride?). I'm sorry that they won't be supported in person by the Team Z machine, but we'll all be following online and watching them cross the finish line on Ironman.com.) European Ironman races have a 16 hour ime limit instead of the 17 hour midnight finish here in the States, so I think they're so very brave.

In other news, I met with my friend Michelle who is helping me design my tattoo (my facebook vote was for a tatt that will be visible in a sundress, but not a suit) and I also chatted with a cool woman from the NZ embassy about translating some Maori for the design. I'm getting very excited. When I completed my first half Ironman, four years ago, I got my ears pierced to celebrate, so a tatt is a natural extension given the magnitude of the event.

We're also getting excited about Mark's uncle and cousin who will be arriving from NZ Monday week. I still can't quite believe that I managed to pursuade them to come around the time of the IM. Although the Team Z support machine will be out in force, it's going to be incredibly special to have three people there specially for me, and I'm incredibly grateful for it.

The athlete's guide came out with more information than I really want to try and absorb. Could you all read it and just tell me where I need to be when? I expect my race number next week too.

15 days to go.
